Volunteering at Chico Creek Nature Center
The Chico Creek Nature Center offers valuable work experience for people who are interested in animal care, museum services, or environmental education. Many of our volunteers are home-schooled students, retired people, and college students. If you are interested in volunteering please refer to the positions we have available below.

We offer gifts at volunteer service benchmarks.
We are looking for Park knowledgeable individuals to staff Howard S. Tucker Hall and Kristie’s Nature Lab. The Chico Creek Nature Center docent service is an easy and great means to promote stewardship of Bidwell Park, meet the community, and learn more about the natural history of the area. We need your help as we expand services through the new exhibit hall and classroom. A short 45 minute training session will be provided prior to volunteering. No opening or closing required. A CCNC staff member will always be available for assistance. The following shifts are currently available Friday through Sunday: Shift #1- 11:00am to 1:30pm; Shift #2- 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
Animal Caretaker Assistant
As an animal caretaker volunteer you will assist our Animal Care Technician with feeding, cleaning, and exercising our live animals, which include raptors, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and birds. Currently, we have over 20 different animals who reside at the Nature Center.
