For optimum learning a full year of participation is encouraged. Classes are $160 per 6 week session.
Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
11am to 3pm
$160 for 6 Tuesday or Thursday class meetings
5 sessions throughout the school year
Nature School runs 9/6/16 to 5/26/17.
6 week sessions are:
9/6 to 10/14
10/17 to 12/9
1/9 to 2/16
2/21 to 4/13
4/18 to 2/25
No class 11/1, 11/10, 11/21 to 11/25, 12/12 to 1/6, 3/14 to 3/1, and 4/3 to 4/7.
NOTE: Sessions with “no class” dates still provide 6 in class days.
HOMESCHOOL families: This class may be rolled into your Thrive levels so you can get classes and more with your POs.
We recommend your family joins us for Nature’s ABCs and/or Nature Story Time to help in the drop off transition. These programs are offered free through a grant from First 5 and run directly before Nature School from 9:30 to 10:50am and are parent participation/non drop off programs.
To ensure a GREAT experience please make sure to send you nature schooler(s) prepared with:
*Packed lunch. Lunch is NOT provided and we take time as a group to sit and eat.
*Closed Toe Shoes. No sandals, flip flops, etc.
*Layered clothing. The temperature can change a lot throughout the day.
*Sunscreen and bug repellent. Please apply sunscreen and bug repellent as needed before children arrive.
*Swim Suit, Towel and Closed Toe Water Shoes on warm days. We may allow the children to swim or wade in the creek on warm days.
*Hat/ Sunglasses as needed
*We recommend items come in a backpack for safe keeping and all items have a name written on them. Campers will have use of cubbies to store their items.
Sign In/Out: For the safety of your children we ask they you sign them in and out every day. Please be prepared to show a photo ID at pick up. Only named parents and authorized pick ups will be allowed to pick up. If you need to have someone else pick up please contact us.
Late Pick Up Fee: Please pick up at your scheduled time. We charge $1 per minute late.

At the Chico Area Recreation and Park District, we are constantly striving to provide you with quality recreation programs. We are confident that you will like these programs…so confident that we will ensure our promise to provide that high quality. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the quality of our programs or instructors, we encourage you to contact us immediately so we can work to resolve your concern and improve the quality of our programs for all participants. If you are not completely satisfied, contact us and we will arrange for you to do one of the following:
1. Repeat the program at no charge.
2. Receive full credit that can be applied to any other program.
3. Receive a full refund.
Currently, this guarantee applies to all of our programs except Adult Leagues, Facility Rentals, Trips and Tours, and all grant/scholarship funded programs. These programs have specific policies that apply. Your complete satisfaction with these programs is equally valued, and we will work with you to resolve your concerns.
To receive a credit, repeat a program, or obtain a refund, please contact us in writing, by phone, by email, or in person. Requests must be made within ten (10) business days after the last program meeting. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof of I.D. may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.
In the event CARD needs to cancel a class or program due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstance, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee. We understand that unexpected circumstances may also arise resulting in a need for you to withdraw from a class or program. If so, please notify us prior to the first day of the class, and you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some of the programs, there are exceptions. Please refer to the program for additional information and exceptions. Requests for refunds or transfers made be made in person, by email or by phone. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof on identification may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.
